본 디자인은 신한은행의 나라사랑 카드 콘셉트 연구이다. 나라사랑 카드는 대한민국 병역판정 검사 시 발급되는 카드로, 병역의무를 이행하는 20대 남성들에게 군과 관련된 신분증(병역증/전역증) 역할을 수행하는 동시에 국방부의 다양한 복지 및 금융 서비스를 제공하는 복합 기능 체크카드이다.

이 카드는 단순한 기능을 넘어 대한민국 국방부와 병역 대상자인 20대 남성 간의 관계를 형성하는 첫 번째 매개체로서, 국가를 중심으로 한 공적 가치의 실현과 개인이 누릴 복지 혜택을 연결하는 의미를 지닌다. 이에 따라 이러한 관계성을 효과적으로 전달할 수 있는 시각적 요소를 개발하고, 이를 기반으로 카드 디자인의 방향성을 모색하는 데 초점을 맞추었다. 본 연구의 지원 기관인 신한카드는 2025년 나라사랑 카드 사업 대상자로 선정되어 2026년부터 본 카드의 발급을 시작하였다.

This design is a concept study for Shinhan Bank’s Nara Sarang Card. The Nara Sarang Card is issued during the Republic of Korea’s military service examination process and functions as a military-related identification card (military service certificate/discharge certificate) for men in their twenties who are fulfilling their mandatory military service. At the same time, it is a multi-functional debit card that provides a range of welfare and financial services offered by the Ministry of National Defense.

Beyond its practical functions, the card serves as the first medium through which a relationship is formed between the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Korea and young men subject to military service. It connects the realization of public values centered on the nation with the welfare benefits available to individuals. Accordingly, this study focuses on developing visual elements that can effectively convey this relational meaning and on exploring the direction of the card’s design based on those elements. Shinhan Card, the supporting institution for this research, was selected in 2025 as the official provider for the Nara Sarang Card program and began issuing the card in 2026.
